Our client,one of the largest banking and financial services organizations in the world,is seeking a Head of Asset Management,IT.
Location NY,VP title: The keys to this hire is for the individual to have Asset management experience. Especially with implementing Front Office applications,detailed product knowledge as well as management expertise,demonstrated financial management expertise and experience in setting and delivering on strategic plans. This role is located with the business so excellent communication and presentation skills are expected.

The Asset management division has experienced rapid growth over recent years and now has in excess of US $400 billion AUM. It consists of approximately 2200 people with about 160 individuals in IT - these engaged mainly in application implementation,development and support with infrastructure support provided by this group. The principal teams are in London,Hong Kong,Paris and New York.
Head quartered in London the Asset management business is global and regional depending on the market and product,spread across Asia Pacific (HK,Taiwan,Singapore,China JV in Shanghai and Tokyo),Europe (London,Paris,Germany,Turkey and some sales offices) and North & South America (New York,Vancouver,Mexico,Bermuda,Argentina and Brazil). An aggressive global expansion plan is being implemented and IT is restructuring and adapting to support and partner with the business in the drive to reshape the business.
Managing a team of four IT staff directly supporting the US Fund managers and Middle Office operations and sales staff. Relationship management for Canada and Bermuda offices. Regional technology risk officer for Asset management. Provides vendor management oversight for technology issues related to outsourced Back Office and other third party engagements.
Primary functions include implementing,upgrading and maintaining the Investment management systems. Current major project areas include Front Office systems deployment across North American offices starting with Canada,Back Office outsourcing for Canada for their fund accounting,transfer agency and custody needs.
Role is a part of the IT Global Management team,and acts in a relationship management role to both the local and global business heads.

Principal Accountabilities
? Add value to the business by providing strong business driven IT consultancy with regional and global COO’s and senior management in both local and global offices with investment responsibilities.
? Effective management for investment initiatives for Front Office and Middle Office systems,supporting global platform initiatives as required.
? Co-ordinate regional and contribute to the Technology Plan/ATP/AOP process;
? On Client delivery with agreed levels of functionality of committed projects,ensuring project progress,adherence and risk information is available to business management at all times;
? Actively market IT as a service to the business,communicating to business heads the skills and services available;
? Where applicable,manage the relationship between the business and external IT vendors;
? Encourage the business to involve appropriate IT specialists at an early stage in any new programme or project to ensure greatest benefits; Effectively manage offshore low-costs resource pools.
? Deliver excellent account management services,including service availability,system performance and IT services billing;
? Work alongside the business to understand their key drivers and metrics to better assess the potential for IT solutions or changes to enhance the business;
? Continue overall ownership of client relationships after initial investment;
? Conduct regular satisfaction reviews;
? Leverage the expertise within the IT organization;
? Advise and educate IT on business needs,providing business input for technology solutions to the appropriate IT entities and instruct the IT organization in the nature of their business relationship and requirements;
? Assess the viability and present the findings of new requests by providing options (Clear Choices) to the business;
? Work with IT Planning and Finance to understand the cost of services,and work with the business to maximize the business value of technical spend;
? Ensure recharge transparency and that customers pay for what is actually consumed
? Ensure that early attention is drawn to technology reaching end-of-life and that appropriate decisions are made reinvesting to migrate away from obsolete technology;

Ensure compliance with all relevant internal instructions (FIMs,GSMs,circulars) and external regulatory requirements,including the management of operational risk and adherence to the Group’s standards of ethical behavior.
This job has direct budget responsibility for Asset management in the US and indirect responsibility for Asset management in Canada and Bermuda.

Management of Risk (Operational Risk/FIM requirements)
Maintain awareness of operational risk and minimize the likelihood of it occurring including its identification,assessment,mitigation and control,loss identification and reporting in accordance with section 4 of the Group Operations FIM.
Observation of Internal Controls (Compliance Policy/FIM requirements) Maintain and observe CLIENT internal control standards,implement and observe Group Compliance Policy,including the timely implementation of recommendations made by internal/external auditors and external regulators. Foster a compliance culture and implement Group Compliance Policy by managing compliance risk in liaison with the Head of Group Compliance,Regional Compliance Officer,Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer,ensuring adequate compliance resources are in place and training are in place and training is provided,and optimizing relations with regulators.

Skills/Experience/Qualifications

*Strong relationship skills based on solid business investment knowledge.
*Have an excellent knowledge of the project life cycle
*Ability to work in a fast-paced,team-orientated environment and execute multiple concurrent assignments effectively
*Strong collaboration and relationship management skills,specifically with the business stakeholders
*Good business judgment and capacity to consult on and satisfy business needs
*Eight+ years experience working in an Asset management environment with a demonstrated appreciation of the full trade life cycle.
*Strong influencing and negotiating skills
*Proven ability to prioritize competing demands
*A strong level of analysis experience and knowledge of structured techniques and Group standards
*Ability to take the lead in unstructured situations
*Knowledge of current technologies and best in class vendor solutions
*Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
*Strong analytical,problem-solving and organizational skills
*Ability to handle multiple tasks and follow them through to resolution accurately and in a timely manner
*Excellent communication skills,both oral and written; ie thorough application and metadata documentation skills
*Highly IT Literate (technical awareness would be an advantage,awareness of the software life cycle would be essential). Knowledge of Oracle,Sybase,J2EE,VBA and Scripting is useful
